Our Goals for 2030

Our Projects

Tree Seedling Production

Each year, an average of 100,000 tree and fruit seedlings are raised by individuals and community groups, including women. MBIDEA supports participants by providing essential inputs such as polythene tubes and seeds. Additionally, training is conducted on proper tree planting techniques and woodlot management to enhance sustainability and environmental conservation.

Food Security Initiative

With support from UNDP, Africa 2000 Network, and TACOSODE, MBIDEA implemented a fruit promotion program in six villages. As part of the initiative, 217 fruit seedlings were successfully raised and distributed, contributing to improved nutrition, food security, and sustainable livelihoods within the communities.

Promotion of Improved Cookstoves

MBIDEA has actively promoted the construction and use of improved cookstoves in households to enhance energy efficiency and reduce reliance on firewood. These stoves consume significantly less firewood compared to traditional ones, helping families minimize the frequency of firewood collection while promoting environmental conservation.

As a result, 706 improved cookstoves have been successfully constructed and are now fully utilized by households, contributing to sustainable energy use and improved living conditions.

Child Labour Elimination Program

With funding from ILO/PEC through TACOSODE, MBIDEA implemented a child labour elimination program in the mining sites of Mpepo and Lukarasi. The program focused on rescuing children from hazardous labour, raising awareness among communities about the dangers of child exploitation, and advocating for children's rights to education and a safe childhood.

As a result, 17 children were successfully removed from dangerous working conditions and reintegrated into school and vocational training programs. Additionally, families were supported with alternative livelihood options to reduce economic dependence on child labour, ensuring long-term protection for vulnerable children.

Loans for Farmers' Groups

MBIDEA provided small loans of TZS 50,000 each to three farmers' groups in Kilimani, Zomba, and Lipumba villages. This revolving fund initiative aims to support and promote pig farming within the groups, enhancing their economic sustainability.

Environmental Conservation Training

MBIDEA has conducted environmental conservation training in eight villages—Mkumbi, Myangayanga, Luwaita, Mhekela, Kilimani, Mtama, Lipumba, and Lusonga—emphasizing the critical role of communities in protecting and sustaining their environment.

Promotion of Biogas Technology

MBIDEA has granted Tshs. 120,000 to support the construction of the first individual biogas plant in the district, owned by a farmer in Kilimani village. The adoption of this technology will help reduce dependence on fuelwood, contributing to environmental conservation.

Support for Orphans and Vulnerable School Children

MBIDEA provided essential support to vulnerable school children from 12 primary schools in Kigonsera Ward, equipping them with uniforms, shoes, exercise books, pens, and pencils to enhance their access to education.

HIV/AIDS Awareness and Support Program

With support from USAID through TACOSODE, MBIDEA is implementing an ongoing HIV/AIDS prevention program in Myangayanga village, focusing on awareness and prevention measures.
Additionally, an HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention, control, and behavior change program has been conducted in 12 villages—Ruanda, Paradiso, Amani Makoro, Mkako, Kigonsera, Lukarasi, Matiri, Mpepo, Mbambabay, Liuli, Maguu, and Kindimba—funded by TACAIDS through the Mbinga District Council.

As part of its commitment to vulnerable children, MBIDEA has provided school uniforms (including shoes), pencils, and exercise books to 170 orphans in Kigonsera Ward, ensuring they have the necessary support to continue their education.
